Egypt Mobile Regulation - Unregistered Phones

Important: Device Registration Requirement in Egypt

If you plan to use a mobile phone in Egypt- whether with a physical SIM or an eSIM- please be aware of a mandatory local requirement.

Device Registration Within 90 Days

All mobile phones imported from abroad must be registered within 90 days of entering Egypt using the official Telephony app.
If the device is not registered and the applicable customs and registration fees are not paid within this period, the phone will be blocked from using any cellular services, including eSIM connectivity.

This is a government-enforced policy, and unfortunately, it is outside our control.

How to Check Your Registration Status

You can verify whether your device is registered by opening the Telephony app and entering your phone’s IMEI number.

How to Find Your IMEI Number

  1. Dial *#06#

  2. Your IMEI number will appear on screen

  3. If your device supports Dual SIM, you will see two IMEI numbers- one for each SIM slot

If Your Device Is Blocked

If the device has already been blocked, the only way to restore cellular service is to complete the registration and pay the required tax.
You can do this directly through the Telephony app.

For further assistance with the process, please contact the support options provided within the Telephony app.
