“eSIM Not Supported” Error – What It Means
If you see the error “eSIM not supported” while installing your eSIM, your phone is most likely locked by your mobile carrier. Many smartphones sold through mobile providers are locked due to contracts or financing plans. A locked device can only use SIMs or eSIMs from the original operator.
In some cases, Samsung devices may also have regional or carrier-based restrictions. Certain models only allow eSIM installation in specific regions or with particular carriers. If the phone was purchased under a carrier plan or in a different region, eSIM installation may be blocked even if the device seems to function normally.
How to Check if Your iPhone Is Carrier Locked
- Open Device Information
- Go to Settings
- Tap General
- Tap About
- Check Carrier Lock Status
- Scroll to Carrier Lock
- If it shows SIM locked, your device is carrier locked
- If it shows No SIM restrictions, your device is unlocked
How to Check if Your Samsung Device Is Locked
- Try Selecting a Different Network
- Go to your phone’s mobile network settings
- Try selecting a different network manually
- If you see messages like “SIM not allowed” or “Network locked”, or the phone refuses to register on another network, the device is carrier locked
How to Resolve the Issue
If your phone is carrier locked, contact your mobile operator and request an unlock. Alternatively, use another device that supports unlocked eSIM functionality.
